Unfortunately Geoff, given that there is so much competition for the ever dwindling amusement dollar, that if harder patterns were mandated for league bowling, a large number of league bowlers would simply walk away from the game. These people walking away has a cascade effect on the industry...

I have asked a few people about this possibility, techs etc and the answer has always been the same. There would not be enough volume of oil for the colour to show up to the naked eye. lane oil has a UV additive and it doesn't show up under the black lights during moonlight bowling, so i doubt...

All events leader is Andy McKay with 1761. Came in on a 199 average, so I'd say he is coping ok.

Having a league average of 200 does not and should not guarantee you will cut in a tournament. Consider other factors. I'm told by people competing that the airconditioning is not working. If that is the case you can bet that is having a detrimental effect on scoring

Doesn't mean that you are a 200 average bowler tho. My son bowled his first Presidents Shield this year and shot 29 pins below his entering average because of the tough condition. He can't wait to go back next year to challenge himself to do better. Who cares what you score AS LONG AS YOU WIN!

Well, he's finally done it. Qualified 2nd for the SA Presidents Shield Team. Struggled early yesterday but shot a 207 average on the Athens pattern today to go from 9th to second. Nicely done mate!
