After just receiving a phone call from Greg Conescu (Turtle) to have coffee with us this morning, got me thinking what your claim to fame…is

I have others but though I would kick it off with this one…

Mind you Kellie didn't know who he was...:p :p :p

I got my band disqualified from the Battle Of The Bands in Adelaide in 1976 because my guitar solo went 4 minutes past our set time. :D

Back at high school I had a friend with an older sister who knew carny blokes from the Ekka. They told her that the TV show of the time, Cop Shop, was going to be doing some filming on a particular day on a certain ride, and that anyone on the ride at the time would be extras and filmed for the show. So we took an "extra" Ekka day off from school, hung around the flying swings until the cast and crew showed up, and spent a couple of hours riding the swings for nothing...I even got to hold John Orcizs hand...sigh.....(ok, I was 15, things have changed now!!;) )

Best bit was, we didn't end up on the cutting room floor and got our 5 seconds on the telly as background people!!!

I had coffee today with the Boss of total bowling. A high light in my life without doubt. And he paid, ahhhhhhhhhhh

Oh Kellie, that was nice of you to take Steve out for coffee and on your shout too HA HA

Back in the old Valley's days I was a youngen rugged up in my Valley's beanie and scarf when Mal Meninga pick me up, put me on his shoulders and ran onto the field.

I was the Account Manager for 00 Motorsport (wished it was HRT) but anyway I dealt with Craig Lowndes on a regular basis for work and would run into him at the local shopping centre. We'd chat and I even introduced him to Taya when she was with me one day. She stood there with her mouth wide open in total shock and when he walked off she said "Did you realise that you just introduced me to Craig Lowndes and we were standing in the middle of the shopping centre talking to Craig Lowndes and he was asking you about you kids. OMG I can't wait to tell me friends"

I also ran into Leisel Jones at Ken Peters Camera House at Redcliffe. I told her that Shontay is a huge fan of hers and she asked if she could write her a note. Shontay cuts out all news clippings of Leisel and has her note tucked away in a special box.

At the Brisbane airport we were collecting luggage at the same time as the Australian Rugby team. We got George Gregan's autograph and Brad and Khynan stood and chatted with Loti Tuquori for a while (who also signed an autograph).

When Brad was managing the Myer Centre he worked with Kelly Hayden and would see Matt Hayden regularly when he picked Kelly up or when they went out for lunch.

A couple of months ago I was invited down to the gabba to bowl agaist the England and New Zealand cricket team. It was a high light for my self personally. I had the chance to bowl to Freddy, Andrew Strauss, Ian Bell, Paul Collingwood, Flemming, Vincent and Mahmood. What nice guys they were. I had tips from freddy and Mahmood, it was great to spend the whole day with them.
Can you guess who I got out first ball?, but than never looked like getting him, he was all over me.

hammer u turncoat did u notice that since the pommies faced you the didnt lose another game.

My claim to fame...

In high school we had a "slave auction" where the yr 12's were bought by the lower grades as slaves for the whole school day. I was bought by a group of 8's and 9's who had no idea how they were going to embarrass me on the day.

I decided to help them along by singing a Bon Jovi number without any backup music - or musical talent. Needless to say that the embarrassment bar has been risen a notch for future years. Still get reminded about that event three years later.

Mate, thats all I heard from my team mates for the next 2 weeks, I was the one who gave them half trackers to smash and find form.:( :(

When I worked for the Council I had to work with a bunch of other guys on compulsory clean-up order on the property of one Martin Bryant.
This was two years prior to Port Arthur, and we were warned about him back then.
I found him a very creepy, disconcerting individual in the short time I saw him.

Met Brett Lee, Shane Warne and Matt Hayden out the front here after the Test match got wiped out by a storm several years ago.
I was out on the footpath clearing the water and mud from everywhere when I turned around and here they were walking up the street to the pubs up in the main street, they all stopped and had a chat for a couple of minutes before I got back to clearing the mud away - seemed good people.

We had Peter Garrett come into work a number of months ago. I only respected him for being part of Midnight Oil...I hate politicians. We had one moron of an employee think it would be "cool" if we started to play a few Midnight Oil songs. I could tell by the look on Peters face, he was not impressed at all.

We have also had Katherine from BB come into work with one of her kids attending a birthday party. Not such a big deal though, because I know exactly where she lives and see her at one of the local shopping centres every so often.

I met Kyle Sandilands [or however you spell his name] when I was at Parklea Markets about 2 or 3 years ago. He is rather funny...not that you didnt already know this.

Went to school with David Nilson who played for the The Brewers (Baseball).

Meet Sir Jack and his son Gary Brabham. Gary's ex in-laws live opposite us which happen to be now Greg Conescu in-laws. ( small world)

Had a chat to Mike Young(Claxton Shield, now working for the ACB) at one of my son's Afl games.

But my best claim is meeting probably the toughest person to ever lace up a football boot, John Sattler.

Hey jas was Greg's wife, Alison there?

The sattlers must have lived up here for a while, i went to the same school as scotty sattler and his wife angie was in most of my classes.
Back in those days John stattler ran the Pub at Australia Fair on the goldy and then Helensvale.

As a young prop in grade 8 I looked up to the Big no 8 in our schools Open side had no idea then he would be immortalised by that tackle in 2003.

My claim is that I was on the same plane as the whole australian one day cricket team in jan 2001. Got most of their signatures so that was pretty good.

Also I was the last person in Rocky to spare the 7-10 split. That was 4 years ago.

I managed to vomit on the set of 1 v 100 the other week. Not behind the set or nothing. Actually on the set as one of the people in 'The Mob'

Do I get a prize for that??

Mum and Dad used to help set up courses for Rally Australia when we lived in WA. And Mum managed to get 3 Coca-Cola Hats signed by Peter Brock and Dick Johnson. Pretty cool since neither of them was ever sponsored by Coca-Cola!!
